Kenilworth Castle - Forekeep

This is a plein air painting done in September 2021. The view is through an archway to the Elizabethan Garden and to the houses on Castle Green beyond. I really like the way the stonework of the castle changes with the light and the interesting perspective you can get. One of the challenges with plein air is the changing light through the day. This painting was in flat light until late in the day when the sun suddenly emerged and all the lovely shadows appeared to give depth and texture.
