Crackley Cottages from Kenilworth Common

Crackley Cottages from Kenilworth Common

£30.00Price

Watercolour 270mm x 180mm

This was based on a photograph taken through the woods in December 2020 but I didn't get round to painting it until April. The building is now a single house but used to be worker's cottages on the nearby Crackly Hall estate. I love the view because in winter the foliage opens up the view from further back in the woods and the light made fallen leaves on the path look shiny - almost like a little stream. There is so little sunshine in winter that when it breaks through it brings out colour that has stayed hidden.

This painting is one of those where I don't draw and the first washes are very wet and colourful. I paint in a conventional light to dark layered approach and then finish with small accents of either ink or gouache

Delivery is in a cardboard envelope and an acetate sleeve
